Family Update for September 8

Family Update for September 8

Patience Please - Meal Delivery Expectations

We look forward to seeing our students and families at bus stops and school sites to pick up meals starting tomorrow, September 9.

Delivering meals to bus stops means we can get nutritious meals to students where they are during their school day, but it also provides unique challenges. Bus drivers have a limited time at each stop to deliver the right meals to the right children. Please note that we expect some delays during our first week of school.

Teachers have been asked to not schedule live instruction close to the lunch hour to allow students time to pick up and eat lunch. Daily schedules are set up to provide some flexibility in the schedule around the lunch hour.

You can help us by doing your part and pre-ordering through our online system. As a reminder, if you plan to drive, please pick up at a school site and not a bus stop. This is to keep our students safe.

Thank you for your patience during this week as we work through challenges in the daily schedule.

Technology Support

Tomorrow is the first day of school, and while we hope it goes off without a hitch, we have a team of staff on call to assist families, students and staff with technology.

If you have questions or need support, please call the Family Assistance Center. The Family Assistance Center will be available from September 8 to October 2 from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

School Supplies Packages

Highline Schools Foundation handed out school supplies to families in need on September 3. Due to the huge number of families who needed supplies, we ran out of supplies. The Foundation is working on getting more school supplies packages available for families in need. More information will be made available when they are ready.

Distance Learning Kits

K-5 distance learning kits will be available for pick up at schools between September 14 and 17. These kits contain student workbooks and grade-level curricular resources like alphabet cards and math tools.

Schedules and details will vary by each school. Your school will share pickup details.
